What started as a seemingly ordinary matchup on August 23, 1989, between the Montreal Expos and Los Angeles Dodgers turned into anything but, thanks to an unusual source of irritation for Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda: Youppi!, the Expos' mascot.

The game began as a pitcher’s duel, included a triple play (or perhaps it was just a double play?) and stretched into 22 innings.

While the Dodgers eventually claimed victory, one question remains: Was Lasorda's altercation with Youppi! really warranted? After all, the mascot was just doing his job.
