The Longest Game Ever

33 innings, 3 days and 3 runs to win a baseball infinity.

Pawtucket. Puh-tuk-it. Say it like you're spitting a tooth out. If the longest game in baseball history were to happen anywhere, it would happen in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

Fittingly held on Easter eve, 1981, this game seemed to be heavily influenced by a higher power. The Pawtucket Red Sox, the Rochester Red Wings and the baseball gods were all at play that night.

An operational delay, near-freezing temperatures, heavy winds, an outdated rulebook, and two young future Hall of Famers were just a few ingredients that made this game a celebration of baseball’s wonder. The pure joy of chasing a little white ball on a green field.

How do you win a Baseball Infinity? Score 3 runs.
