CAROL & JOHNNY

8 years. 56 banks. still married.

Husband and wife, he was the star robber and she was a damn good getaway driver. Partners, to have and to hold.

From 1986 to 1994, Carolyn and Johnny Williams robbed 56 banks across Texas, California, and Washington state, setting the longest streak of unsolved bank robberies in FBI history. They were the modern day Bonnie and Clyde.

They lived off their loot, cleaned the money in Vegas and hid out on the California coast. They weren't billionaires, but it was an enjoyable lifestyle. Filet mignon, wine and a home that overlooked the ocean.

Sounds like the good life, but every marriage has its challenges. The real question is, does time beyond bars make the heart grow fonder?

credits: Carol & Johnny was a feature length documentary film produced by the Barnicle Brothers and Words + Pictures. THE FILM premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.

(Johnny was unable to attend the premiere and Carol needed a companion, respectfully, I stepped in.)
